Sinatra Tribute to Benefit ALS Treatment, Research

Singer Jason Nazzaro will pay tribute to Frank Sinatra Valentine's Day weekend with a benefit concert at Club 86, located at 86 Avenue E in Geneva.

Tickets to the Saturday, Feb. 13 show are $50 each or $75 per couple. They include hors d'oeuvres and dinner, with all proceeds benefiting the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Research and Treatment Center at the Upstate Health Care Center in Syracuse.

Doors will open at 6 p.m., with dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. With a fruit cup or homemade soup as the starter and a tossed house green salad as the second course, the entree will be Club 86 Baked Chicken served with a vegetable and potato or rice pilaf.

In addition to Nazzaro's performance of Sinatra classics such as "Fly Me to the Moon," "Strangers in the Night" and "New York, New York," the evening will also include a cash bar and silent auction.

As the largest ALS center in New York outside of New York City, the ALS Research and Treatment Center in Syracuse is nationally recognized for its research into possible treatments for ALS, a neurodegenerative disease which is known by some as Lou Gehrig's disease and for which there is no cure.

The center is where Waterloo resident Cliff Maus was recently diagnosed with a rare form of ALS called progressive bulbar palsy. An Army veteran as well as a former Seneca County deputy and retired from Canandaigua Police Department, Maus is hoping proceeds from the Feb. 13 Sinatra tribute will make a difference for others with ALS, which is estimated to affect approximately 20,000 Americans at any given time.

"Jason is a fantastic singer who really channels Ol' Blue Eyes, and this show will make for a romantic date in an elegant setting the night before Valentines Day," Maus said. "I'm hoping the community will come out to enjoy the fun and support a great cause."
