Legacy at Fairways Presents: "2017 - A Double Centennial Year"
2017 is the centennial of two important events in New York State. New York State was key to the national movement for women’s suffrage, and in 1917, New York amended its constitution to allow women to vote (one of the first states to do so). Also, in April, 1917, President Woodrow Wilson went before a joint session of Congress to request a declaration of war against Germany. The U.S. Senate voted in support of the measure and the House of Representatives concurred. Ontario County Historian, Preston Pierce, will talk about the combined centennials and the impact they had on our state and our country. Presented by Preston E. Pierce, MLS, ED D, Ontario County Historian, Department of Records, Archives, and Information Management Services, County Archives (RAIMS). Please RSVP at 585-924-7043.
