An Emily Dickinson Writing and Reading Intensive
Spend a day getting to know Emily Dickinson at Writers & Books’ retreat center, set on 24 bucolic acres in the Bristol Hills. Karen vanMeenen and Patricia Roth Schwartz will guide you on an exploration of what love is, what death means, and how one’s own garden contains the universe. With this one-day intensive, you will read selected works by the iconic poet, discuss her oeuvre and life, write in multiple forms, and enjoy the natural beauty of the surroundings. Karen Van Meenen is certified as a writing therapist, serves on the executive board of the National Association for Poetry Therapy, and is the Book Reviews Editor for the Journal for Poetry Therapy. Patricia Roth Schwartz has been the recipient of awards from Clackamas, Rochester’s ImageOut, Sow’s Ear, and HeartLodge. She also has won a Lambda Literary award for a volume of short fiction.
