A Cultural History of the Chosen Spot : Presentation with Peter Jemison

The Canandaigua Lake Watershed Association will host the next installment of the “Viewpoints” speaker series on Tuesday, May 2nd from 6:30 – 8:00 PM at Finger Lakes Community College Stage 14. 

Peter Jemison, Manager of the Ganondagan State Historic Site, will speak on the origin and history of the Seneca Nation and the cultural significance of Bare Hill. 

Jemison is a nationally recognized Seneca historian as well as an artist. He is the manager of Ganondagan State Historic Site, a recreation of a 17th-century Seneca village located in Victor, New York. In October 2015, the new Seneca Art and Culture Center opened at Ganondagan fulfilling a 30-year vision of a permanent, year-round interpretive facility to tell the more than 2,000-year-old story of Seneca and Haudenosaunee contributions to art, culture and society.
